We are a nonprofit community arts center, striving to create and support community through live performance. We offer a unique listening room where the artist and audience are able to connect and share in the artistic experience.

In April 2023, White Horse Black Mountain became a nonprofit organization. Thanks to the generous support of a community donor, WHBM was able to purchase the building in September, 2023, securing this community arts center for generations to come. As of April 2024, WHBM has 300 plus members, and gave $46,000 back to community non-profits in 2023.

We believe communities need a place to intentionally connect with music and art. We believe that these moments of connection can repair some of the tears in the fabric of our society and that art can have a powerful ripple effect throughout the region and world. We believe that art lightens our load, gives solace to the weary, can help heal the wounded and honors the part of our lived experience that we can’t find adequate words to express.

By creating a membership model that asks members to make a monthly or annual donation, we are able to cover much of our operating costs and hope to become fully sustainable in the months to come. Once operating costs are covered, the remaining portion of our ticket sales will be reinvested into community efforts. While we are already working with over 20 non profit organizations to provide space and ticket sales for their fundraising events, we will also become a granting organization that redirects even more significant funds to community non profits doing the work to support the needs of our region.

When you buy a ticket at the White Horse you are directly supporting efforts to alleviate hunger, increase mental health access, youth art activities and so much more.
