The Dark City Song Swap takes place once a month and focuses on the art and craft of singer-songwriters. Our featured artists are:
Beth Lee, is the host and curator of this series and she invites other talented artists to join her on stage each month to share their artistry. She is an award winning songwriter who lives in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina. Her writing is heavily influenced by bluegrass and traditional country music. She is passionate about writing lyrically diverse songs – songs that are sometimes sweet, sometimes tough, sometimes swampy, but always speak the truth. She invites the listener to go on a journey, taken away by the story, reminding us of who we are, who we want to be, or who we have been.
Amanda Anne Platt has an empathetic and charming wit ingrained in her songwriting. She has a knack for accessing a deep well of emotion and applying it to her story-telling, whether she is writing from her own experiences or immersing herself into the melody of emotions in another person’s life.
Planefolk is the solo project of Asheville native Kevin Smith. Influences begin with the Appalachian sounds of bluegrass and old time. Then travels on with the rawness of rock and roll infused with heavy doses of classic country. All original songs inspired by songwriters such as Prine, Nelson, Springsteen and Cash.
