Even Cowgirls Get the Blues is back by popular demand at the White Horse!
Mare Carmody, Ellen Trnka and Peggy Ratusz agreed to reprise their amazing show from August of last year, which honors 3 of the GOAT’s of female Americana and Classic Country music: Rosanne Cash, Emmy Lou Harris & Lucinda Williams!
Though Mare moved out of WNC back in October, she’s coming back for this one night only to join her Cowgirl Sisters. Come on out for this one, and show her how much she’s been missed. Their interpretations of these classic hits and B-sides prove their love for these iconic female geniuses of Americana and Country Rock. Their harmonies are delicious and their band is top shelf.
The band consists of musical director, Alec Fehl, guitarist, who earned his Bachelor of Music degree from the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. Currently a guitar teacher he also teaches computer hardware and web application programing at AB-Tech, writes computer textbooks, is a free-lance web designer and facilitates guitar workshops and master classes. He plays lead guitar in several bands including Deep
River.
Electric and Acoustic Violinist, Paul McIntire has decades of varied experience. From his native California, across the USA, Europe and Asia, Paul has enjoyed sharing his instrumental passions. A third generation musician and performer, he was classically trained since the age of 6. His interests lean toward Jazz Improvisation, Celtic, and
Electronic music. But he is also an award winning Country Fiddler, and has extensive credits in recording, and live performance.
Zack Page has been performing as a professional bassist since the early ’90s. His work with various jazz ensembles, theater companies, and the cruise industry has taken him to all 50 U.S. States, the Caribbean islands, Australia, South America, Europe and the Far East. Zack has had the good fortune to play and/or record with Billy Higgins,
Delfeayo Marsalis, Cyrus Chestnut, Marvin Stamm, Eddie Daniels and Babik Reinhardt, the son of gypsy jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt. Following time spent in Los Angeles and New York City, Zack and his family relocated to Asheville, NC where he enjoys a busy freelance schedule with many of North Carolina’s finest musicians.
Justin Watt is an incredibly sought after drummer. He’s a teacher at Asheville Music School and juggles his robust calendar playing a myriad of genres and styles with a myriad of local, regional and internationally acclaimed music acts.
Mare Carmody is a songwriter, and for over a decade was one half of the WNC duo Carver & Carmody. Add Burlington/Greensboro NC to the growing list of music towns she’s lived and thrived as a full time performer. Asheville/Hendersonville/Chimney Rock/Edneyville, Southeastern Virginia, Memphis Tennessee, Little Rock Arkansas opening for folks like David Crosby, Jesse Winchester, and The Seldom Scene.
