It is an honor to welcome world-jazz-fusion duo, Free Planet Radio, with violin virtuoso, Casey Driessen, back to White Horse Black Mountain, especially during this historic period of recovery for the Western North Carolina area after the ravaging effects of Tropical Storm Helene.
Free Planet Radio is known for encompassing an impressive array of rich and textured soundscapes, intricate rhythms, and virtuosic agility performed on an exotic collection of instruments acquired during their many travels. Their compositions weave together diverse traditions, innovation, and inspiration, as well as some mathematical gymnastics. Comprised of world-renowned musicians, River Guerguerian on percussion and Chris Rosser on piano and multi-instruments, the band’s aim is always to transport listeners on a captivating journey while “exploring the infinite and seamless relationships between musical cultures through the universal language of sound.”
This show will feature special guest, GRAMMY-nominated violinist, Casey Driessen, bringing songs from his own musical catalog as well as joining River and Chris in selected pieces from theirs. Driessen’s discography includes an exquisite 27-episode video series and a 13-song recording of collaborations from his international travels during 2019 and 2020, titled Otherlands:ONE. The electric chemistry between these three talented artists will transport the audience on a musical voyage meandering from Appalachia to Ireland, Istanbul, India and back!
