Description

Two incredible groups sharing a Sunday afternoon on the White Horse Stage…

Asheville’s original skirt and boots female trio returns to the White Horse after a 16 year hiatus. Melissa Hyman (cello) from The Moon and You join original band members Sarah Roberts (guitar), and Mary Ellen Davis (bass) for this freshened up performance which will include many original favorites from the early days of the band.

Ménage was a popular Asheville band in the early aughts. The all-women trio used to play regularly with the Avett Brothers, had an original song (Tomatoes) in a Hunt’s tomato commercial, and were well on their way to becoming more than just regionally known when the band decided to take a break in 2012.  We are blessed to have Mary Ellen Davis as the Booking & Events Director here at the White Horse.

Lazybirds is a classic American roots band from the mountains of North Carolina. Specializing in good time music that is just about impossible not to move to, there is also a depth to the band that faithful fans have treasured over the years. The ‘Birds cover a lot of musical ground, from early American stringband music to Dylan classics, as well as classic sounding originals, but deep roots are what hold all of these sounds together.

“Lazybirds play a good variety of blues, jazz, and that good old ragtime sound.. you will hear the flavor of that in anything they play.”  –The Legendary Doc Watson
