Amplifying the Sound of Community

White Horse Black Mountain Programs Earn State and National Arts Support

At White Horse Black Mountain, we believe that music and community are inseparable. The stage has always been a space for shared experiences, and we are thrilled to announce that our mission is being elevated this season through vital funding partnerships.

Several of our key music and educational programs are proudly supported in part by the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.

This funding helps us sustain and expand the cultural experiences you love, ensuring that world-class roots music, jazz, and blues remain accessible right here in the heart of Black Mountain.

Supported Programs

 The Jazz Showcase

  1. When: The 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month
  2. The Experience: Our bi-weekly Jazz Showcase continues to be a cornerstone of regional musicianship, bringing together extraordinary instrumentalists, vocalists, and composers. This funding helps us keep live jazz thriving, providing a steady platform for both legendary regional masters and emerging innovators.

 Tuesday Blues Nights

  1. When: Every Tuesday night
  2. The Experience: The blues is the foundation of American roots music, and our Tuesday Blues Nights keep that heritage alive and pulsing. From traditional acoustic sets to electric ensembles, these weekly gatherings celebrate the grit, soul, and storytelling of the blues.

 Looking Forward: Intimate Artist Sessions

In addition to our main-stage performances, this support is helping us pave the way for an exciting new initiative. We are actively working toward launching a series of small-group sessions designed to pull back the curtain on the performance experience.

These specialized sessions will offer participants a unique opportunity to:

  1. Engage directly with artists in an intimate setting.
  2. Explore the creative process and see how a song or arrangement moves from concept to execution.
  3. Learn the deep history and cultural traditions behind the music.
  4. Gain personal insight into the artists’ unique professional and creative journeys.

Keeping the Arts Alive

Public funding for the arts ensures that venues like ours can remain community living rooms—places where history is preserved, creativity is sparked, and people gather to share in something beautiful. We are incredibly grateful to the North Carolina Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts for recognizing the impact of grassroots cultural programming. Keep an eye on our event calendar to join us for our next Wednesday Jazz Showcase, Tuesday Blues Night, or to get updates on our upcoming small-group artist sessions. See you at the White Horse!
