The Sound Of Asheville

Band of the Sky emerged in 2024 from a collaboration between longtime musical partners Richie Tipton and Jeff Anders. Guitarist Mike Barnes and bassist David Bradley soon joined, reviving most of Asheville’s ’90s rock sensation Praying for Rain. After the passing of their original drummer, Rocky Lindsley, Mike invited Chipper Lunsford to take his place, a perfect tribute to Rocky’s legacy.

With over 30 years of musical roots in Asheville, the band proudly reflects their local heritage, even in their name, which nods to the Land of the Sky. Their sound is a dynamic fusion of global influences, blending original songs with covers spanning classic rock, folk, world beats, jazz, hard rock, southern rock, progressive rock, country, and blues.
