Anne Coombs has been a driving force on the music scene since 1980. With her smooth, sultry voice and versatile Guitar style, Anne has been the recipient of multiple Music Awards that span four decades. Anne has been featured on stages from coast to coast playing with many of the greatest artists in the industry from Blues & Rock to Jazz, Funk & Swing. Anne is Available for Solo, Duo,Trio and full band bookings. She is the Band Leader and Guitarist for the All Female Swing Band COMPANY SWING.
Anne is a two-time Grammy nominee for the prestigious Music Educator Award. She began her music career at age 10 studying violin and guitar. She continued playing music and songwriting while attending W.Va. University with a major in violin and later graduated from The Music Business Institute Of Atlanta. Anne and her bands have shared the stage and played with music greats Willie Waters (son of Muddy Waters, Johnny Winter, Indigo Girls, 5 time Grammy Winner Roy Wooten. She is the recipient of multiple music awards including songwriting / publishing contracts.
In 1996 she founded and operated the first Community Music School in Asheville at 250 Charlotte Street. In 2006 she began doing guitar jam camps at UNCA during the summers and in 2009 her guitar jam camps developed into what is now Rock Academy, a year round performance studies program. In 2009, Anne also opened the Music Academy Asheville in West Asheville. In 2011, Anne’s dream, to insure that all children have access to music education, became the inspiration for Give to the Music, a non-profit corporation that provides tuition for private music lessons, performance classes, tutoring as well as instruments and musical equipment, for children in need of financial assistance. She is currently an advisor and consultant to The Music Academy and Rock Academy while continuing to teach and perform in the region.
