Two incredible groups sharing a lazy Sunday on the White Horse Stage…
Lazybirds is a classic American roots band from the mountains of North Carolina. Specializing in good time music that is just about impossible not to move to, there is also a depth to the band that faithful fans have treasured over the years. The ‘Birds cover a lot of musical ground, from early American stringband music to Dylan classics, as well as classic sounding originals, but deep roots are what hold all of these sounds together.
“Lazybirds play a good variety of blues, jazz, and that good old ragtime sound.. you will hear the flavor of that in anything they play.” –The Legendary Doc Watson
Peggy Chanteuse Ratusz has been performing for nearly 50 years; the last 22, in WNC. Her versatility, range, depth and sincerity create a cyclical experience for audiences large and small. From cover tunes to originals, from Blues to Jazz and every genre in between, the scope of throwback to modern stylings she chooses to deliver effectively evokes the groove and embodies the lyrical content, setting her apart from other great vocalists. For the past 17 years, she’s either won or placed in the Western North Carolina Readers poll for Best in Blues. In 2016, she was named Best Vocalist as well as the area’s most noted musician who gives back to the community. Peggy was a semi-finalist in The Blues Foundation’s (Memphis, TN) International Blues Challenge in 2008, 2010 and 2016. She’s opened for Tedeschi-Trucks Band, Geoff Atchison, Karen Lovely, Taj Mahal, Danielle Nicole, the Beach Boys and the late greats, Denise LaSalle and Sean Costello.
